St. Louis, MO. (December 27, 2004) - A month after celebrating 25 years in business, Austin A. Layne Jr. has officially opened the new expansion to his current facility, the Layne Renaissance Chapel, located at 7302 West Florissant Avenue - across the street from the Austin Layne Mortuary.

The new 23,000 square foot renovated facility boasts 2 additional parlors, a 300 seat chapel, private arrangement rooms, casket display room, coffee room and additional lit parking. The "Grand Opening" ceremony was held on December 26th, and was hosted by Reverend Donald Hunter, of the New Sunnymount Baptist Church, other officiates were Bishop James A. Johnson, Pastor of Bethesda Temple Church and Bishop Alohonso Scott Pastor of Lively Stone Church of God. Mara Beth Gentry and Lady Eneazer Blissett Moore performed soul-rendering solos. Other clergy, relatives and friends were present to dedicate and consecrate the new facility.


"We have a perpetual 'Open House' policy at the Layne Mortuaries," says Mr. Austin A. Layne Jr., President and CEO. The new and recently renovated facility provides a larger chapel and much needed parking. "This expansion is for the people," says Mr. Layne. "My only desire is to provide our families with first class service and an adequate and comfortable place to carry out these services. Our commitment to the families in St. Louis speaks volumes to the integrity of this business and we will continue to meet the demands of the community the best way we know how."

Traditional Service - This service includes services with Funeral Director and staff, viewing hours the evening before and prior to the service, and the funeral service at the funeral home or local church of your choice. Your floral tributes will be displayed. You are encouraged to bring in photographs and other memorabilia to further personalize your service.


Graveside Service - A graveside service held at the burial site is one of several service options. This is available for families that choose not to have a visitation or a funeral service at our funeral home or your church. It consists of family and friends meeting at the grave for a short service.


Memorial Service - A personalized Memorial Service with photographs and memorabilia can be held in our funeral home chapel or a location of choice.
